Using the RIDE NUMBER is pretty straightforward; you just need to understand the feel of SPEED GENERATING and SPEED CONTROL. At one end of the RIDE NUMBER scale are SPEED GENERATING fins. These fins are responsive and provide extra boost when the surf lacks power. On the other end is SPEED CONTROL, which is stiffer and more predictable, providing good bite when the surf gets solid. In the middle, BALANCED fins offer a mix of both extremes for an all-around feel. Remember: when you're pumping → SPEED GENERATING; when the waves get bigger → SPEED CONTROL.
